on a winter's morn'

Sorry I've been AWOL for a bit, but I had exams....but now I'm done. Yay! So update.

Today I went out to lunch with some friends to Montana's, and what did I wear you may ask, well, see for yourselves:

coat, united colors of benetton. cardigan, banana republic. polo, abercrombie(from those days). skirt, hollister(again from those days). accessories, some are vintage, some are gifts. tights, unknown.shoes, enzo angiolini.

I didn't actually wear those shoes though because it's absolutely freezing out here. But when the weather warms up, this outfit will definitely be worn with those shoes. I was going for a preppy kinda look with a twist, what with the polo, cardigan and pearls, but at the same time with the denim skirt and grey tights. I also found these great old vintage pins that my dad used to collect, and I realised they make great accessories.
I'm really excited for next week because it's my friends 18th birthday party, and because she's Filipino, they have HUGE 18th birthday celebrations, so I get to dress up for her party. I'm really excited, and therefore, I'm going to look up hairstyles, and make up ideas. I'm not yet sure what dress I'll wear, but hopefully something black because I've been dying to wear my red high heels, and I don't have dresses any other colour that match my shoes.
Today, I leave you with a quote:
"Old clothes are old friends."
-Coco Chanel
How true, huh?
Ooo, and a must see movie: Center Stage
PS. I have some great new posts coming up. So stay tuned.

dress, vintage. white tights with a design, unknown. boots, enzo angiolini. ring, vintage.
I'm feeling so sentimental today. I finish first semester in a week and a half and that means that half of my senior year of high school is done. I'm actually gonna miss high school. :( Anyways, I have to write a a grad comment for the yearbook, and I don't know what to write, so I've been looking up quotes and poems, but I still have no idea. Most people usually put a quote and than a shout out to friends and family. But I want something really unique, so I have to figure out something.
Dreams are like the paints of a great artist. Your dreams are your paints, the world is your canvas. Believing, is the brush that converts your dreams into a masterpiece of reality.
I really like that quote, but I can't fit it all in. :(

I've been so busy with school lately it's hard to update this blog, especially since I wear uniform to school everyday and when I get home I'm stuck in sweatpants.

I went vintage shopping at Kensington Market on Saturday and I have to say that I absolutely adore the shops. The whole market is so wonderful, but especially Kensington Avenue, that's where most of the clothing boutiques are. There are some wonderful things to see and buy.

I went into most of the shops, but my favourite had to be Courage My Love:

I bought some vintage tights(they were new though) and some beads for a dress I'm making.

Than I went into another store and I got this royal blue dress with white crocheted parts. It's really pretty but I'm still washing it. I'll post pictures of me wearing it when I finish washing it.

And than I also bought some HUGE frame glasses. Their vintage from the 60's.

Some pictures from Kensington Market. The pictures from inside the store is from a store called The Rage and the designs inside are from a Toronto artist. I didn't buy anything in the store, but I loved the stuff.

This is tomorrow's outfit. I'm going thrifting, so I will most likely get some cool stuff and I can have a photoshoot. I have to say that the fur jacket isn't actually part of my outfit, but my mom bought it from Parasuco and it's totally awesome, so I had to try it on.

My friend gave me the new Britney Spears CD and I love the theme: the circus. The pictures in the album are so pretty, and she looks gorgeous. Therefore, I think I need some circus Esq clothing. I'll see what I find thrifting tomorrow.

Favourite song right now: You're So Vain - Carly Simon

white long sleeved shirt, american eagle. baby doll top, forever 21. black suede vest, vintage. black pants, bamboo. shoes, enzo angiolini.

There there baby, it's just the text book stuff, it's in the ABC of growing up

Today was thew first day back to school, and now I'm back in my boring school uniform. I can hardly wait for Saturday when I can finally wear something of my own creation. I have the perfect outfit in mind, so I will be sure to post pictures when I wear it.

In the meantime I will post some pictures from a photoshoot I did myself during the summer. It was gypsy inspired. I love this song: Gypsy Lady by Demis Roussos. I listened to it so much, and than decided to do this photoshoot. Enjoy.

THIS SONG IS AMAZING: Speeding Cars by Imogen Heap

The best color in the whole world, is the one that looks good, on you

My parents went AWOL with the camera, so I couldn't take a picture of my outfit. I had one of those days where I simply hate everything in my closet, and everything seemed horrible. I literally spent over an hour and half picking something out to wear so I could go to the mall with my friend. I ended up with a grey Zara graphic print tee tucked into a denim mini from Hollister(eewww, but I used to like the store, and the mini is quite nice), grey/blue tights, short black leather boots by Enzo Angiolini, a vintage navy blue cardigan, real pearl necklace from the Philippines and a handmade glass charm necklace, vintage scarf, and than a United Colours of Benetton wool coat. It seems like a lot of layers and it was, but I just hate everything I owned today. Basically, I had no inspiration in my outfit.

My shopping trip was fun. I ended up getting two articles from Forever 21. Both are dresses, except one is more tunic-like. One is a cream colour, with a scoop neck and short sleeves, with pretty detailing near the hem, while the other one(the longer one) is a light green, with 3/4 length sleeves and a v-neck. Both are completely plain, but I lacked some nice light coloured clothing, so I'm happy I purchased them. Plus, they were a total steal: $3.99 and $7.99 respectively (on sale of course).

Inspiration for me right now:

I love these outfits. I think their all from lookbook, but I found them on the emmawatson.net forums. I love the flowy dresses, and the skirts are to die for, exactly what I'm looking for, but I cannot seem to find.

My Reading List:

  • Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
  • War and Peace - Leo Tolstoy
  • The last issue of Teen Vogue, Vogue, Fashion, W

My Playlist:

  • Crash - Matt Willis
  • Voulez Vous - Abba
  • La Mer - Charles Trenet
  • Hallelujah - Jeff Buckely
  • Hide and Seek - Imogen Heap
  • For the Widows in Paradise - Sufjan Stevens

if i had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense

I've never actually read Alice in Wonderland and I've only seen bits of the Disney movie, but I saw this great photoshoot of Alice in Wonderland interpretations by various designers in Vogue...I think it was, and I felt the urge to read the book, so tomorrow, I'm gonna go to Chapters and buy it. This random act of the need for the book also lead to inspiration for today's outift.

Tights, unknown. Tunic, vintage (at least I think). White skirt, Head(tennis company). Scarf, vintage.

The pink armchair is my lovely. It doesn't match the rest of our living room at all, but we cannot seem to get rid of it. A while ago, my parents wanted to get rid of it, but my intense crying episode changed their minds, plus, it is extremely comfy, and it's perfect for eating breakfast (or lunch or dinner), sleeping, studying, drawing, and taking pictures in. It's some totally old vintage thing we picked up somewhere...and kept. My inspiration for it, came from "The Twelve Chairs," a book written in Soviet Russia, later made into a movie. I remembered it today and have to pick up a copy of the book, and somehow find the ancient movie. A childhood classic when my parents were growing up in Lithuania.

Inspiration:

the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe/broken records

"She is a perfectly terrible person," said Lucy. "She calls herself the Queen of Narnia thought she has no right to be queen at all, and all the Fauns and Dryands and Naiads and Dwarfs and Animals—at least all the good ones—simply hate her. And she can turn people into stone and do all kinds of horrible things. And she has made a magic so that it is always winter in Narnia—always winter, but it never gets to Christmas. And she drives about on a sledge, drawn by reindeer, with her wand in her hand and a crown on her head."

Happy New Year everyone! I spent the first day of 2009 cleaning my whole room. I redecorated it all. I'm feeling good about all the changes I made. I feel like I can finally breathe, and hopefully this year will be a truly interesting one, full of wonderful new adventures.
