For the past couple Saturday's I've been running around like mad. One place to another, spending money, exploring the city, up at dawn and out the door, only home when the sun starts preparing for bed. That's why this Saturday I took the day off. It's rather funny to think about how we're always running, always trying to accomplish everything we do faster so we can get onto the next task, only to rush through that too. I think if everyone slowed down, and took the time to actually enjoy their tasks, then they would see the world in a different light.
Sometimes there is so much beauty in the world, and it goes unnoticed. The way the morning light streams through my window, dimmed only slightly by the thin floral curtains; drinking freshly brewed coffee from a dainty, pretty little cup from my childhood; watching the way the sunlight touches flowers in my garden; all that beauty and love that I hardly find time to soak in flits about each day.
I'm glad that I slowed everything down this Saturday. Even when I went to meet my friend for coffee, I decided to walk in the pouring rain. The warm water combined with the sweet smell of flowers made the world shimmer in my eyes.
There is too much beauty that we miss because we can't take the time to "stop and smell the roses".
